III Cheeky Anthology

only for the daring

Only for the daring. Effectively, this book is only for the daring. If you are one of those who believe in the power of the word, in its emancipatory capacity, in its possibility of achieving and building a fairer and more balanced, more exciting and daring world; if you are one of those who look with hope to the future and recognize the present as a time when practically everything is still to be done or undone, and where there is no one left in this task; if you are able to smile every morning and are willing to surprise yourself in the face of the wonderful everyday, then you are a cheeky person and this is, without a doubt, your book!

With this III Atrevida Anthology, we continue in the battle for the defense of joy in the world against sterile and defeatist discourses, offering a selection of the best of the literary production of the youngest Lusophony, thus highlighting the possibilities not yet properly explored by the educational community and society. in general what the youngest people can offer us and how much we all have to learn from them.

This book will not let you down! We guarantee that your reading is a party, a lesson and a celebration of life itself! High literature, daring and surprising creations from the imagination of young people in our Lusophony.

Dare to be bold! Enter the pages and stories of this book and prepare yourself for a journey only suspected, full of high literature, surprises and happy daring! And remember, for love everything is easy and the present has never been so full of future!

Afonso Cruz

FIGUEIRA DA FOZ

He is a writer, illustrator and musician (belongs to the band The Soaked Lamb).

In July 1971, in Figueira da Foz, he was completely newborn and, years later, he would go to places like António Arroio, the Belas Artes de Lisboa, the Instituto Superior de Artes Plásticas da Madeira and more than fifty countries.

Miguel Manso

SANTAREM

Born in 1979, in Santarém, with the promise of a childhood-for-ever. When everything was going for the best (long vacations, streams, marbles) he understood that it wouldn't be like that: he became an adult and in an instant. He was about to get old and boring but he remembered to recover an old habit from when he was tender and smart: writing, inventing. They tell him he's getting younger and younger.

Every book you publish is a firmer step back to the tree house, the spit bubble, the booty in the pond. He has already written nine books, and poems... Notice how almost a kitten again and sobbing towards the quietest place, there where writing and writer are a single, mixed breeze.

Mallu Magalhães

SÃO PAULO

My journeys into playing started when I was only 15 years old, when I gave up what little I had to live on sound. I live on love, on tenderness, also on fear and cold. I live for courage.

In the arts, I became a victim of myself and there I harvest the fruits of my own volcano. I have the weak laugh of those who do what they want and have a bad memory.

Marta Amaral

LISBON

Winner of the II Concurso La Atrevida with the text "Breve Conto do Cantor Mudo", she was born in Portugal, but lived in France until she was three years old. Arriving in Lisbon, against the wishes of his parents, he refused to speak French again. She has always been like that, obstinate and pertinacious. And it's a good thing, because he was able to dedicate himself entirely to his language, which he loves so much.

Ever since she was little, she has been Marta, the Chatterbox. He talks a lot, a lot, but even more than talking, he likes to write! Every word associates a color, or a sound, or an aroma. Likes words with 'L's: fluid, metallic, lime. He still doesn't know what he wants to be, but he knows, with all certainty, that he will continue to write.

Antonio Carlos Cortez

LISBON

Born in 1976, in Lisbon. It was created in Benfica, on Calçada do Tojal, a street where, until the early 1990s, memorable football matches were held between Borussia do Monte Lá De Baixo and Cantareira. In the five seasons he played for that team (1984-1989) he was elected second best scorer, behind the mythical Michelangelo that everyone has heard about.

He was also a frequent gazetteer in classes at the Quinta de Marrocos Preparatory School (1987-1990). Sometimes failing, sometimes failing, he still had to listen to The Doors, a band that dictatorially defined his musical taste until today; and read poetry, that of the «Lizard King», passing through Lou Reed until discovering some cursed ones. Baudelaire, above all. One day he fixed these lines: “The waters of this river run murky” and he thought about how words speak to the world. That was the problem. He hung up his boots and dedicated himself to trying to make the classes he teaches a constant encounter with the life of poetry.

Do literary criticism. He is a professor of literature and is deeply convinced that he was a combatant in Vietnam between 1965-1967, where he died to be reincarnated a decade later. Try to be a good Christian. He published seven books of poetry. It rejects a formless literature. He believes in the phrase “terrorism is love”, which is like saying “in the world of terror, only love can fight it”. He is a fan of Roland Barthes, of good wines, good cheeses and good conversations.
